FC Dallas has been by far the better side since the second half began and their efforts were rewarded when George John headed past Jay Nolly from a corner to bring the visitors level.
Vancouver Whitecaps Vs. FC Dallas: David Ferreira Stretchered Off, George John Header Makes It 1-1
John's equalizer came seconds after Dallas playmaker David Ferreira was stretchered off the pitch after a tackle by Whitecaps defender Jonathan Leathers. Replays showed that the challenge was clean, Leathers putting the ball behind for a corner and contact with Ferreira minimal, suggesting that the Dallas attacking midfielder might have gotten his foot caught in the turf. The injury appeared to be to Ferreira's ankle. Eric Avila came on to replace the reigning MLS MVP.
Dallas have continued to show a great deal of attacking intent despite the loss of such an important player, but Vancouver have been equal to the challenge so far in what continues to be an open free-flowing (albeit somewhat sloppy) contest in Vancouver.
