It appears that Universidad Catolica are going to Porto Alegre to defend and minimize damage before the tie heads back to Chile. They have not selected either of their quick forwards, Jose Luis Villanueva or Pablo Agustin Calandria, and have instead opted to go with one up top, likely packing the midfield and playing for the draw. Gremio look like they will set up in a rather attacking 4-3-1-2, which has been dangerous for them. However, this setup will lack width. Here are the lineups.
Gremio Vs. Universidad Catolica, 2011 Copa Libertadores: Lineups
Gremio lineup (4-3-1-2): Grohe; Marquez, Gabriel, Neutron, Gilson; Rochemback, Adilson, Magrao; Douglas; Borges, Leandro
Universidad Catolica lineup (4-5-1): Garces; Eluchans, Henriquez, Valenzuela, Martinez; Meneses, Ormeño, Costa, Silva, Cañete; Pratto
Lucas Pratto is a good enough player that he could provide a legitimate attacking threat for Catolica up front, but it’s possible that Gremio could dominate possession as he is left isolated. The attacking trio of Gremio should be fun to watch, as veteran playmaker Douglas and veteran striker Borges compliment one of Brazil’s great up and coming talents, 17 year old striker Leandro.
The game kicks off at 6:30 pm ET from Porto Alegre.
