We're finally seeing spells of Barcelona possession, but it's more of the knocking the ball rather aimlessly around the back line variety than the exciting, swashbuckling passing breed, so it's hardly threatening to spur the match into life just yet. Real Madrid vs. Barcelona, 2011 UEFA Champions League Semifinal: David Villa Smashes Wide
Eventually that spurs the Real Madrid midfield to start making some challenges, which doesn't go so well for them and Barcelona are able to push forwards, working the ball out to David Villa on the right flank. After breaking his goal drought last weekend, Villa is looking a lot more confident, and he drifts past Pepe and Marcelo, shifts the ball onto his left foot, and tries a thumping shot from outside the box which has Iker Casillas diving to keep it out of goal. He doesn't reach it, but much to Madrid's relief the ball flashes just wide of the far post. Close!
