Real Madrid vs. Barcelona, 2011 UEFA Champions League Semifinal: Cristiano Ronaldo Shot Causes Problems, Chance Eventually Pulled Back For Offside

Well that's something from nothing by Cristiano Ronaldo right before the stroke of halftime, who wastes the free kick earned by Angel di Maria by smacking the ball straight into the wall again, which is getting a little bit old for the massed fans at the Santiago Bernabeu. He makes up for it by picking up possession in the resulting melee and smashing in a shot through a crowd of players that Victor Valdes must have seen late.

The Barcelona goalkeeper saves, just about, but Mesut Ozil is on hand to pounce on the loose ball. The German then proceeds to shoot straight at Valdes, and the second rebound is wellied over by de Maria. No matter though, it's been called back for offside on Ozil anyway. That's the last major action of the half, and both teams will go into the interval... well, probably frustrated and quite angry, I'd imagine. Things haven't exactly been friendly out there.

This is the third of four matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona. You can view our coverage of the April 16th and 20th match here and here, with live coverage of Real Madrid vs Barcelona on April 27 in this story stream.
