Real Madrid vs. Barcelona, 2011 UEFA Champions League Semifinal: Pedro Denied Penalty, Mascherano Booked

Yellow card of the half number two as Javier Mascherano runs into Pepe as the midfielder comes steaming forward to chase after a loose ball. The Real Madrid player then launches himself into the air and lands rather awkwardly, which looks rather painful - maybe if he wanted to be less hurt he shouldn't have deliberately gone a-tumbling there. Wolfgang Stark pulls out a yellow, which is the right decision despite Pepe's embellishment of the contact.

Xabi Alonso swings in the free kick, which Victor Valdes grabs despite a crowd of players getting in his way. After a spell of home pressure mainly caused by Emmanual Adebayor's tactic of 'running really fast at defenders and seeing if they'll screw something up', Barcelona go on the attack again, and Marcelo has to make an extraordinarily difficult challenge to rob Pedro in the area. Barcelona want a penalty, but Stark is having none of it, Quite right, too.

This is the third of four matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona. You can view our coverage of the April 16th and 20th match here and here, with live coverage of Real Madrid vs Barcelona on April 27 in this story stream.
