Estudiantes La Plata have had the majority of possession and have been the aggressors through the first 45 minutes of their 2011 Copa Libertadores tie, but they have failed to break down Cerro Porteño. The Paraguayan side appear to have come to La Plata looking for a draw, and so far, they are achieving their goal. That doesn’t mean that they have been completely willing to attack, but their high volume of fouls implies that they are very much a negative-thinking side.
Estudiantes La Plata Vs. Cerro Porteño: 0-0 Halftime
The hosts have had a couple of legitimate looking penalty shouts in the first half, but they were both denied. Enzo Perez has looked dangerous for Estudiantes, but nothing has come from his efforts. Really, this is the story of Estudiantes’ season so far this year. It’s hard to believe that they will continue to fail to score, especially since the aggressive, negative, hard-tackling of style of play by Cerro Porteño could possibly lead to a sending off or four.
