D.C. United's trip to Dicks Sporting Goods Park may be remembered by some for the cold and snow, but for the Colorado Rapids' Caleb Forlan, it will aways be remembered for his first MLS goal. The Rapids signed the Irish striker prior to the season and with Omar Cummings out, Folan got his chance. The Irishman took advantage of that opportunity and gave his side a jolt with a well taken goal. The home side now hold a 1-0 lead over D.C. and look poised to grab their ninth point from three matches.

Jeff Larentowicz initiated the move with a lovely chip over the top of the United back line into the path of Folan. Folan chased the ball down inside the D.C. box with a defender tightly marking him. The defender didn't mean much to Folan though as he faced goal and made a couple step overs to create space before putting the ball on his left foot and curling it around Pat Onstad for the game's opening tally.
