The Colorado Rapids made their run to a MLS Cup last season largely on the backs of their excellent striker pair, Conor Casey and Omar Cummings. On a chilly Sunday night at Dicks Sporting Goods Park, the few fans actually in attendance won't get the chance to see them together. That's because Cummings started the match on the bench, resting after international duty with Jamaica, and only made his entrance because of an injury to Casey.
Colorado Rapids Vs. D.C. United: Conor Casey Goes Off With Hamstring, Omar Cummings On
Casey came up lame in the 50th minute, although there was no apparent instance in which he suffered the injury. One minute Casey was running, the next he was limping and grabbing his hamstring. The striker called over to the bench for a substitution, quickly aware that he would not be able to carry on and Colorado manager sent Cummings on in his place.
Striker isn't the most pressing of positions for Colorado right now though thanks to a first half strike by Caleb Folan that put them ahead 1-0 against a D.C. United side that has shown nothing resembling an attack. All Colorado has to do now is see out the final 40 minutes.
