Seattle Sounders Fans Pay Tribute To Steve Zakuani

Say what you will about Seattle Sounders fans, but Saturday's tribute to Steve Zakuani was pretty awesome. I was in the crowd for this one and can say that it was easily one of the coolest things I've ever been apart of. From 11:00 to 11:59 of the match against Toronto FC, Sounders fans held up placards with Zakuani's No. 11 on them and chanted his name. This video (H/T Seattle Times) does a solid job of capturing the minute-long tribute:

With more than 36,000 attendance and nearly everyone holding one of the white cards, it may very well be the largest tribute ever paid to a player during a MLS game. There were also numerous signs hung throughout the stadium as fans came up with their own individual ways to honor Zakuani, who of course had his leg broken during last Friday's match against the Colorado Rapids. Making the night even more emotional was the fact that the team learned they'd also be without O'Brian White for the foreseeable future.
