Ajax Vs. Twente, Dutch Eredivisie: Ajax Win Eredivisie Title After 3-1 Win

Many huge, hyped up matches end up cagey affairs with both teams afraid to lose, and as a result, never live up to that hype. This is usually not the case in the Eredivisie, and today’s title decider between Ajax and Twente was no exception. Both teams played attacking, ambitious football in a highly entertaining game, and it was Ajax who came out on top with a 3-1 win at the end of a fantastic 90 minutes.

In recent times, Ajax has been a team in turmoil. They did not live up to expectations in the first half of the year, and a whole host of changes were made. Manager Martin Jol left the club and superstar Luis Suarez was sold, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the storied club. As recently as last month, though Ajax were still very much in the title race, Johan Cruyff had a row with the board, causing the entire board to resign.

Much like their previous two meetings this season, the Eredivisie title decider between Twente and Ajax promises to be an eventful affair. In other parts of the world, teams often sit back and think of their defense first in such a big game, but this is unlikely to be the case with Twente and Ajax. Both of their previous two meetings this year were 2-2 draws after 90 minutes, and their lineups for today’s game indicate that we’re going to see some attacking football.
