Before Real Madrid went 1-0 down at the Camp Nou in their eventual 3-1 aggregate loss to Barcelona in the Champions League final, they were very close to going ahead. A goal just after half time would have made the match extremely interesting, and for just a few seconds it looked as though Gonzalo Higuain had given Jose Mourinho's beleaguered side something to cheer. Check out his disallowed goal:

It's not entirely clear why the goal wasn't given - referee Frank de Bleeckere gave a free kick against Real Madrid, but in the buildup Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano is clearly brought down by Cristiano Ronaldo. Muddying the waters more than a little was the fact that Ronaldo had gone down as a result of a foul by Mascherano's defensive partner Gerard Pique. Should de Bleeckere have played advantage for Madrid? After all, it's not as though it was Ronaldo's fault that he was knocked over.
This will go down as a decision which cost Real extremely dearly, and will be yet more fuel for those dreadfully tiresome conspiracy theorists who believe that UEFA officiating is always in favour of Barcelona. Sigh. Good finish though.
