Chicago Fire Part Ways With Carlos De Los Cobos
When the Chicago Fire ‘fire’ somebody, it’s a headline writer’s nightmare. In reality, the Fire didn’t “part ways” with Carlos de los Cobos; that sounds too nice and implies a mutual agreement. He was actually canned, released, let go, terminated, etc. after just over a year of poor job performance. The Fire didn’t make the MLS Cup playoffs last season, and they didn’t look destined to get back with their poor play so far this season.
Per a press release issued by the club, technical director Frank Klopas will take over as the club’s interim head coach. Klopas has been with the team for four seasons. His head coaching experience is non-existent at this level, so it seems likely that the Fire will be looking to appoint a different person as the permanent head coach sooner rather than later.
