LA Galaxy Vs. New York Red Bulls: Thierry Henry Puts New York Up Early

It took all of five minutes for the New York Red Bulls to go up on the LA Galaxy and they did so through Thierry Henry. Dane Richards got the ball with plenty of space 30 yards from goal and played the ball into Henry, who was making a diagonal run. From there, Henry just had to round an onrushing Donovan Ricketts and finish past a recovering Sean Franklin to put the visitors ahead 1-0 very early on.

New York's goal came just a minute after Los Angeles almost netted the game's first goal. David Beckham played a perfect long ball for Landon Donovan, who took the ball first touch on the volley, but put it right at Bouna Coundoul. The Red Bulls won at the Home Depot Center last season by dominating what is an average at best Los Angeles central midfield and while it is still early, it looks as if that may be the case again this season.
