Despite their early hiccups, Lyon really should be 1-0 ahead after 16 minutes, but the score is still level thanks to a spectacular miss by Miralem Pjanic, who is starting in place of the unavailable (and to be fair, out of form anyway) Yoann Gourcuff. His team worked a fantastic ball into the box, with Lisandro Lopez putting in a low cross that was left for Pjanic by Bafetimbi Gomis, with a great dummy. Pjanic had the net at his mercy as he stood with the ball at his feet right on the penalty spot, but he inexplicably missed wide to Steve Mandanda’s right.
