A bit of a wild week in MLS resulted in a fair amount of shuffling in the Week 13 SB Nation Power Rankings. The most significant moves were the New York Red Bulls moving back into the Top Tier and FC Dallas falling down into Tier 2 after their nine-match unbeaten streak was snapped.

Other significant moves included DC United falling from Tier 2 into Tier 3 after losing at home to the San Jose Earthquakes.

Playing For The Shield

Los Angeles Galaxy

Real Salt Lake

88% (56 out of 63 points)

New York Red Bulls

84% (53 out of 63 points)

The LA Galaxy have quietly plugged along this season, rarely looking dominant, and often doing just enough to win. But right now they have the most points, as well as the best Points Per Match. Tying Toronto FC at home was certainly a blow, but our voters don't seem very worried.

The Red Bulls didn't exactly dominate the New England Revolution, but it was enough to convince enough of our voters that they have righted the ship.

Enjoy The Playoffs

FC Dallas

80% (51 out of 63 points)

Philadelphia Union

76% (48 out of 63 points)

Colorado Rapids

66% (42 out of 63 points)

Seattle Sounders

63% (40 out of 63 points)

FC Dallas seemed poised to string together another impressive run after a slow start, the way they did a season ago. Instead, they came out flat and lost to a Sporting Kansas City team that was playing their second game in four days and their 11th road game of the season.

Still Something To Prove

Houston Dynamo

49% (31 out of 63 points)

San Jose Earthquakes

46% (29 out of 63 points)

DC United

42% (27 out of 63 points)

Portland Timbers

39% (25 out of 63 points)

Chivas USA

30% (19 out of 63 points)

Columbus Crew

30% (19 out of 63 points)

New England Revolution

17% (11 out of 63 points)

Coming off a win at Jeld Wen Field, DC United seemed to be on the path to respectability. Instead they dropped a 4-2 decision to the San Jose Earthquakes, who suddenly look like a real playoff contender and have the seventh best Points Per Match. Speaking of the Timbers, they’ve now lost three straight and are in danger of having a very promising season spiral into disappointment.

At Least There's No Relegation

Chicago Fire

12% (8 out of 63 points)

Sporting Kansas City

6% (4 out of 63 points)

Vancouver Whitecaps

3% (2 out of 63 points)

Toronto FC

1% (1 out of 63 points)

After picking up their second win of the season, the Chicago Fire may finally be heading in the right direction. They are now undefeated in the three matches since Frank Klopas took over and have yet to yield a goal in that time.

How It Works: Each of the 21 participants puts Major League Soccer’s clubs into one of the four tiers. Teams in the top tier get three points. Next tier, two points, then one, then zero. Voters can put as many teams into each tier as they see fit. Though the vote total orders the teams, the clubs are intended to be grouped, not sorted. Although some of the names may indicate otherwise, the point of this is to assess current form and our voters are instructed to place teams in tiers based how those teams will fair in coming weeks.

Who participated: Jeremiah Oshan (SB Nation, soccer); Kevin McCauley (SB Nation, soccer); Aaron Campeau (SB Nation, soccer); Ryan Rosenblatt (SB Nation, soccer); Drew Epperley (SB Nation, soccer); Phillip Quinn (SB Nation, soccer); Steve Davis (Daily Soccer Fix); Martin Shatzer (Black and Red United); Scott Kessler (Brotherly Game); Chris “UZ” White (Burgundy Wave); Zach Woosley (Dynamo Theory); Denzel Eslinger (RSL Soapbox); Robert Jonas (Quake, Rattle and Goal); Daniel Robertson (Big D Soccer); Dave Clark (Sounder at Heart); Andy Edwards (The Daily Wiz); Geoff Gibson (Stumptown Footy), Duncan Fletcher (Waking the Red), Steve Stoehr (The Bent Musket); Tweed Thornton (Hot Time in Old Town), Ben Schneider (Once a Metro)
