What was that I was saying about Chepo making a good move? Just three minutes after removing one of his holding midfield players for a striker, Jose Manuel de la Torre has been rewarded for his ambition as substitute Aldo de Nigris has scored a goal after just three minutes on the pitch, knotting up this Gold Cup quarterfinal match against 1-1. Guatemala will now feel the pressure to create another goal, as Mexico will not allow them as much space to counter, since they're no longer incredibly desperate.
Mexico Vs. Guatemala, 2011 Gold Cup Quarterfinals: Aldo De Nigris Goal Levels Match
I would like to point out, for a minute, how absolutely ridiculous it is that Mexico are able to bring Aldo de Nigris off the bench. He has three goals in this tournament and he is the starting No. 9 for the team who won the CONCACAF Champions League. That player has absolutely no chance of starting for Mexico. Depth, homies.
On a completely different note, Wilfred Velazquez just executed a nasty two-footed, studs up challenge on Rafael Marquez’s shin and somehow managed to avoid snapping his leg in half. The referee, being a crazy person, did not show a straight red card.
