Landon Donovan is the United States' most potent attacking weapon and he showed his finishing skill in the 22nd minute, burying a shot past Alfredo Talavera to make it 2-0 to the USA in the 2011 Gold Cup final. The real story, however, isn't Donovan's goal (although yes, it was lovely), but the absolutely gorgeous toe-poked pass by Fulham's Clint Dempsey, who managed to eviscerate the entire Mexican defence by lunging in the vague direction of goal. Super, super pass, this... no matter what ended up happening for the rest of the first half.
