Just when the Portland Timbers thought they were going to sneak out of Pizza Hut Park with some points, the flood gates opened up and FC Dallas routed the Timbers 4-0 Saturday night. Goals from Ruben Luna, Brek Shea, George John and Zach Loyd were the difference in this one.
FC Dallas Vs. Portland Timbers: FCD Routs Timbers 4-0
Dallas opened up the game's scoreline in the 33rd minute after defending for a good 10 minutes before it when Zach Loyd connected on a Daniel Hernandez corner kick. Minutes later George John did the same to put Dallas up 2-0 at halftime.
The second half was no different as the homeside continued to pour on the offense. Jackson Goncalves had one of his best nights in a Dallas uniform as he set up the final two goals. The first he fed Eric Alexander into the box and his shot hit off the post and Brek Shea was there to finish it.
Later on Jackson was at it again as he sent a bullet into the box and Troy Perkins made a save only to see the ball fall into the back of the net. Home grown star Ruben Luna was on the back post to finish the play though it was really Jackson who scored the goal.
With the win Dallas stays in second place with 31 points. Portland continues to struggle as they remain seventh in the Western Conference with 18 points.
