After 68 minutes of action, FC Dallas finally breaks through as Marvin Chavez beats Matt Reis near post to put Dallas on top of the New England Revolution 1-0.
FC Dallas Vs. New England Revolution: Chavez Goes Near Post To Put Dallas On Top
The goal came after a bunch of possession for the Toros. Fabian Castillo found his striking partner on the wing and Chavez did the rest. First the Honduran beat AJ Soares on the touchline and then got by Ryan Cochrane before blasting a shot by Matt Reis. The near post goal was his first of the 2011 season and his first regular season goal since last October.
Dallas had been pressuring New England the the bulk of the second half, much like they did in the first half. But chances were starting to get away from them again in the second half as more shots were going wide or high over the goal.
New England hasn't had any chances so far in the second half. For the part it is due to the lack of possession in the midfield by the Revs. Shalrie Joseph hasn't been able to really get anything going for the Revs in this one as they're playing a counter attack style here while Dallas presses.
