A Marvin Chavez goal in the 68th minute was the difference in this one as FC Dallas extended their unbeaten run to nine games with the 1-0 win over the New England Revolution. Chavez took a ball on the wings from Fabian Castillo and beat AJ Soares on the touchline and then put a near-post shot past Matt Reis.
FC Dallas Vs. New England Revolution: Dallas Extends Unbeaten Run To Nine With 1-0 Win
It was Chavez’s first goal of the season and his first regular season goal since last October.
The result also marked the 100th shutout for Kevin Hartman.
Dallas had the bulk of the possession in this one and the majority of the chances on Reis’ goal. In the first half it was shot after shot that sailed either wide or high. It was evident that Dallas was pushing hard for a goal in this one.
Late in the second half Chavez nearly had a second one as he found some space on the outside penalty box and put in a nice left-footed shot on Reis. The veteran keeper could only push it away.
The Texas heat may have gotten to the Revolution as they failed to get any real chances to test Kevin Hartman until late in the second half. In the 80th minute the Revs had three straight corner kicks that caused some issues for Dallas but the last one was a wasted chance that touched no body in the box to end the threat.
Dallas takes the win and moves closer to the Los Angeles in the overall standings now with 25 points. New England remains in the bottom half of the standings with 13 points.
