A midweek friendly against a relatively unexciting mid-table English Premier League side played in front of a few thousand fans in a converted college baseball stadium is not exactly a recipe for a memorable experience. Well, San Jose Earthquakes backup goalkeeper David Bingham made sure the people that did show up for their friendly against West Bromwich Albion went home with a moment they'll never forget when he scored an absolutely unbelievable goal from about 90 yards out. Here's the video evidence:

Obviously, the West Brom goalkeeper is mainly to blame on this. There’s really no valid excuse for allowing the opposing goalkeeper to score like that. But give credit to Bingham. He puts a good boot on it and the ball does bounce just outside the penalty area, making for a very tough play even if he had been positioned better.
The goal might not be as skillful as some of the others we’ve seen in MLS in recent weeks, but it might be just as special.
