Sporting Kansas City Wins Saad Lottery

With a 21 percent chance in winning the weighted lottery for the University of Michigan standout striker Soony Saad, Sporting Kansas City walked away with yet another striker.

Sporting had the third best odds and beat out Chivas USA, the Chicago Fire and the Portland Timbers for the right to sign the USA Under-20 international, who left the college ranks after leading the Wolverines to the College Cup with a 19-goal freshman season.

Saad now joins a roster full of strikers. Sporting already has young attackers like Teal Bunbury, Kei Kamara and rookie CJ Sapong, not to mention veteran Omar Bravo. In total, Sporting is now up to seven forwards if you base it on their official roster (though Chance Myers isn't really a forward).

Kansas City now joins the Columbus Crew, Philadelphia Union, San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake as lottery winners from this year. Should there be any more weighted lotteries this season, all five of these teams will not be eligible to participate.
