Eddie Johnson has signed a contract with MLS and now will go through the allocation process with his destination being determined by Thursday. The 27-year-old has made 42 appearances with the United States National Team and has been playing in Europe ever since Fulham purchased his rights in 2008. He has been sent out on loan to various teams over the past three seasons.
Eddie Johnson Signs With MLS, Will Go Through Allocation
27-year-old forward has 42 caps for the United States and has been playing in Europe since 2008. He played in MLS from 2001-08.

Prior to his stint in Europe, Johnson was one of the more exciting players in MLS. He scored 41 goals while playing for FC Dallas and the Kansas City Wizards from 2001-2008. In his final MLS season, he scored 14 goals in 27 games. He has also scored 12 goals for the USMNT, appearing in two games during the 2006 World Cup.
Johnson has never enjoyed the same levels of success in Europe. In 18 EPL matches, he has never scored a goal. His best stint was during the Greek Super League, where he scored five goals during 16 matches with Aris.
Chivas USA retains the top spot in the Allocation Order, but with the expected addition of Juan Pablo Angel, it seems unlikely that they would be in the market for another forward. Following them in the order is the Houston Dynamo, Toronto FC, the Chicago Fire, Sporting Kansas City and the Seattle Sounders. Of those teams, the Fire and Sounders would seem to be the most likely to be in the market for a forward.
