It didn't take long for Robbie Keane to make his presence felt in MLS. The Los Angeles Galaxy's newest Designated Player needed just 21 minutes to score his first MLS goal, taking advantage of some horrendous San Jose Earthquakes defending to give the Galaxy a 1-0 lead.

On the goal, David Beckham sent a long, arching pass toward the Earthquakes goal. Two Quakes defenders badly misplayed it, Keane controlled it, rounded Jon Busch and put it in the back of the net. He followed the goal with one of his signature somersault celebrations.
The goal wasn’t necessarily pretty, but after having a DP who had scored just three times in his first 23 appearances, the effort was surely appreciated. The Galaxy are currently holding onto a three-point lead over the Seattle Sounders in the race for the Supporters’ Shield and will need all the scoring they can get. Keane may not be as good as he was in his prime, but it’s clear he still has something left in the tank.
