Owen Hargreaves is just going to move across Manchester as he tries to get fit and make his comeback in professional football. The midfielder has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Manchester City that is heavily incentive based. The deal was finalized on Tuesday, but Hargreaves had to pass his medical to finalize the deal, which he did on Wednesday morning.
Manchester City Seals Deal For Owen Hargreaves
It was only a few years ago when Hargreaves was considered one of the top midfielders in the world. He starred at Bayern Munich and then moved to Manchester United, where he continued his fine play until suffering an injury. Then he suffered another injury and another one. Every time that Hargreaves tried to get back to fitness he would suffer some sort of setback. His contract with Manchester United ended after last season and he was free to go anywhere, but every club was wary considering he hasn't played 90 minutes in a competitive match in almost two years.
Now that Hargreaves is going to City there won’t be any pressure for him to play immediately at all. The team has more than enough players to handle playing without him and anything they get from Hargreaves is just a bonus. If he can get healthy then he’s a boost to the team, as he would be to any team he joined, but they hardly need him. It’s a situation without pressure, but eyes will still be on him as fans long to see him fit and at top form again because it is just lovely to watch when he’s at his best.
