According to the official website of Anderlecht R.S.C., their 18-year-old star striker Romelu Lukaku will be joining English Premier League club Chelsea FC, subject to a medical. The two clubs have been negotiating over a fee for quite some time and it has seemed almost inevitable for around a month that Lukaku would become a Chelsea player. However, there was a bit of haggling involved over the fee that has finally been settled, and the two clubs have come to an agreement.

Andre Villas-Boas has pulled off one of the major coups of the transfer window, as Chelsea FC have come to an agreement with Anderlecht R.S.C. for the purchase of superstar 18-year-old striker Romelu Lukaku
Here is the statement issued by Anderlecht General Manager Herman Van Holsbeeck via the club’s website, roughly translated from Dutch.
“It is unfortunate that we have to let go of Romelu, a player discovered and trained by Anderlecht, but the transfer is a win-win situation for the player and the club. The management is committed to finding a good replacement as soon as possible. We wish Romelu luck with the rest of his career.”
Lukaku, already a full Belgium international, has absolutely lit up the Belgian first division as a teenager. The 6’3” striker possesses great pace, skill and a wicked left foot. He’s widely regarded as one of the best young talents in world football, and Chelsea might have saved themselves some serious money by finding a world class striker while he was still a teenager.
