Picked to be among the worst teams in MLS, many thought Robert Warzycha was set up to fail this year when the Columbus Crew jettisoned most of their veterans during the offseason. Instead, Warzycha has led his team to the top of the Eastern Conference and toward a likely playoff spot. For all this, the Crew have rewarded him with a multi-year extension to remain as coach.
Columbus Crew Re-Sign Coach Robert Warzycha To Multi-Year Deal
Robert Warzycha rewarded with contract extension after leading the Crew into the playoffs each of his first two years.

“I believe Robert’s record speaks for itself and that he has unquestionably earned the opportunity to continue leading our club,” Crew President & General Manager Mark McCullers said in a team release. “He has injected his vision and personality into our style of play, while perpetuating the culture of excellence we have built in recent years with his effective integration of new talent into our returning core group.”
Since taking over for coach Sigi Schmid following the 2008 “Double”, Warzycha has gone 45-29-28 in MLS competition and 55-41-33 in all competitions. He led the Crew to the Supporters’ Shield in 2009, to the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals in 2009-10 and into the playoffs each of his first two years.
