The Portland Timbers are in the playoff race. Yup, that awful expansion team is in the playoff race and not just in the race, but if they win tonight they will be in the 10th and final playoff spot based on points per match. Thank you Don Garber and MLS. Your expanded playoffs have turned it into this, where the Timbers still matter. On the plus side, there's the possibility of a playoff match at Jeld-Wen Field. That would be all kinds of awesome.
Portland Timbers Vs. New England Revolution Live, 2011 MLS: Lineups
If the Timbers are to get a win they'll have to beat a suddenly hot New England Revolution side. They drew three consecutive matches against three playoff teams (note: in MLS that does not mean good team) the soundly beat FC Dallas last week. They're still an awful team, but they are considerably less awful than they were a couple months ago.
