The Philadelphia Union youth team is leading the Columbus Crew senior team after 45 minutes at PPL Park. Okay, it's not actually the Union's youth team, but it feels like it with 16-year-old Zach Pfeffer in a lineup that includes Freddy Adu, Roger Torres and the Farfan twins. It was Sebastien Le Toux who did the damage for the Union though, scoring to give the home side a 1-0 lead at the halftime break.
Philadelphia Union Vs. Columbus Crew Live, 2011 MLS: Le Toux Puts Philly In Front
Le Toux did the finishing and made the good run, but it was Torres’ pass that got Philadelphia the goal. Le Toux made a run from the midfield circle right down the middle of the field and Torres spotted him, playing a perfect ball from the right into the streaking Le Toux. It was an easy finish for Le Toux and Philadelphia were in front.
It was actually a rather even first 45 minutes. Each team had a couple chances, but nothing spectacular. With the Union's issues at the back and no Chad Marshall for the Crew, odds are there are more goals in this one though.
