Shovels still aren't in the ground, but the San Jose Earthquakes' new stadium continues to move forward. The latest bit of progress came on Monday when the team and city gave local residents one last chance to voice their concerns over the proposed $60 million facility.
San Jose Earthquakes Take Another Step Toward New Stadium
Earthquakes still hope to have stadium ready by the 2013 season.

Before residents could even complain, Earthquakes announced they had tabled plans to hold concerts there in an attempt to mitigate noise complaints. Perhaps unsurprisingly, that seemed to do little the satiate those in attendance, some of who were concerned that the noise from a soccer match would be worse than the rail yard that already separates their houses from the stadium. There is also an international airport across the street from the proposed stadium site.
The latest renderings of the facility suggest that it will be considerably more basic than most of the soccer-specific stadiums that have been built in recent years. Still, it would represent a huge upgrade from Buck Shaw or Spartan stadiums, the two places the Earthquakes have called home. Unlike either of those facilities, the Earthquakes will control the revenue and they will be designed for soccer.
