Real Salt Lake Re-Signs Midfielder Ned Grabavoy

Real Salt Lake's first move of the offseason is to retain one of their own. The club re-signed Ned Grabavoy to a multi-year deal that will keep him at Rio Tinto Stadium through 2013, a key move for a team that has to several holes to fill in the midfield. Grabavoy can help do that, not that he didn't have a role of his own to play after appearing in 25 matches last year.

“I couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to continue my career with RSL,” Grabavoy said in a statement. “This is one of the proudest moments of my career. I’m excited to find myself in a great situation for continued success.”

In addition to Williams, RSL has seen Arturo Alvarez, Collen Warner and Jean Alexandre move on, leaving them with a shortage of midfielders. Retaining Grabavoy was a must for them and they've done so, giving them a nice core of Javier Morales, Kyle Beckerman, Will Johnson, Grabavoy and Luis Gil with the lesser-utilized Yordany Alvarez and Nelson Gonzalez too, but unless they expect big steps forward from Alvarez and Gonzalez, more dependable depth has to be on the way.
