Bolton Wanderers Vs. Liverpool, 2012 Premier League: Reds Terrible In Defeat

The 'Sky Six' has been broken. Liverpool have struggled and played dull football for most of the season, but this was perhaps their worst performance yet, and it's become obvious that they are no longer in the category of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Save for one great run and finish by Craig Bellamy, there were very few positives to take out of the match against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium. The home side was just flat-out better, and they were just solid, not spectacular, in a 3-1 victory.

Bolton's three goal-scorers were Mark Davies, Nigel Reo-Coker and Gretar Steinsson, which should tell you just about everything you need to know about this match. All three goals came on brilliant finishes, but also on abysmal defending. Davies' goal came just three minutes on a brilliant run and finish in and Reo-Coker made it 2-0 from close range in the 29th minute.

Bellamy's goal was an impressive one. Running onto an Andy Carroll header, the speedy Welshman took the ball 40 yards before finishing past Adam Bogdan in the 36th minute. That would be their last goal, however, and there felt like there was no way back for the Reds when Steinsson netted a nice half-volley goal off of a corner kick in the 50th minute.

Liverpool look allergic to the penalty area, and Kenny Dalglish has a lot of work to do to get anything positive out of this season.
