Sebastian Prodl Suffers Broken... Face?
Sebastian Prödl suffered a fractured nose and upper jaw along with a concussion in Werder Bremen’s match against FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday.

The injury occurred in the 22nd minute when Kaiserslautern forward Dorge Kouemaha attempted a risky clearance in front of his own goal. Kouemaha’s foot made direct contact with the face of Prödl. After lying motionless on the pitch for several moments, the Bremen centerback was carried off of the pitch on a stretcher. A few cameras managed to get a glimpse of Prödl’s face, and he was drenched in his own blood.
The Austrian international was taken to a Kaiserslautern hospital where he spent the night. He returned to Bremen on Monday for additional tests.
Prödl made the following statement via the Werder Bremen official website: “Honestly, I am doing horrible. But I would like to thank everyone who is thinking about me and giving me support in this difficult time. The way back will not be easy but I know already now that the support of my family, girlfriend, friends, club and all the fans will bring me back to my old strength.”
At this time, it’s not known how long Prödl will be out of action.
