Things were already ugly enough for Anton Ferdinand as he dealt with the fallout of his accusations that John Terry racially abused him, but things got uglier on Friday when a "malicious package" arrived in the mail, containing a death threat and bullet. This comes in advance of Saturday's FA Cup tie between Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea, when Ferdinand and Terry will both be on the field together for the first time since Terry allegedly abused the QPR defender.

"I can confirm we are investigating an allegation of malicious communication received today at Queens Park Rangers football club," read a statement from the Metropolitan Police. "Officers from Hammersmith and Fulham are investigating."
Both clubs have already taken steps this week to try and keep things calm on Saturday, with a joint statement from the two clubs’ chairmen asking for sensibility from the fans to help ease tension and warning of increased security at Loftus Road. Supporters have been asked to arrive to the ground early and to be prepared for full searches before entering the stadium.
Terry will not appear in court next week on the charges that he racially abused Ferdinand, but his attorneys are expected to plead “not guilty” on his behalf. He has maintained that he is innocent, but innocent or not, Loftus Road will be cracking on Saturday and we can only hope that the man who sent Ferdinand the death threat and others like him are nowhere near the ground.
