David Beckham Will Apparently Re-Sign With LA Galaxy, Spurn PSG

David Beckham reportedly agrees to a contract that will allow him to play for the LA Galaxy as long as he wants to play there.

Several weeks after French newspaper reported David Beckham had signed a massive contract with Paris Saint-Germain, it now appears he will re-sign with the LA Galaxy. ESPN is reporting that Beckham has already agreed to a contract and the Associated Press has quoted PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi as acknowledging the well-known midfielder will not be playing in France.

In order to keep him with the Galaxy, MLS has reportedly agreed to a rolling contract which effectively means Beckham will be welcomed back as long as he wants to play. PSG had reportedly offered Beckham an 18-month deal that would have paid him nearly $20 million. The same report suggests more than 20 teams had sought Beckham’s services.

Another part of the deal apparently hinged out Beckham’s chances to play for Great Britain’s Olympic team this summer. Beckham was reportedly assured that his chances would not be hurt by remaining in MLS.

Beckham’s original five-year contract with MLS ran out after last season, easily his most successful. Not only did he remain healthy the entire year and post solid statistics, but he also was a major part the Galaxy won their first MLS Cup since 2005.
