Jurgen Klinsmann has released his roster for the January USMNT camp, where domestic and Scandinavian-based players will take on Venezuela and Panama.
Brad Evans Added To United States Roster For January Friendlies - Report
Evans hasn’t been with the national team since the 2009 Gold Cup so it will be his first time in camp with Klinsmann leading the way. Despite being a midfielder with Seattle and previously with Columbus, Evans has been used as a right back with the U.S., but that was under Bob Bradley. Klinsmann could choose to use him in his more natural position, but he called in more utility defenders than he did true right backs in his initial roster so Evans could very well be another right back option in Klinsmann’s mind.
The U.S. will play Venezuela on January 21 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ and Panama on January 25 in Panama. Because neither match is on a FIFA international date, clubs are not obligated to release players for the matches so the U.S. roster is filled with MLS players and those from Scandinavian leagues that are out of season.
