New England Announces Signing of Two Colombian Players

The restoration project that is the New England Revolution continued today with the announcement of two new signings. Central defender John Lozano and midfielder/forward Fernando Cárdenas will join the Revs from Colombia's América de Cali. As always, contract details will not be released because Dabney Coleman runs MLS...someone out there might get that reference.

The duo will occupy international roster spots and will officially join the team upon the completion of their formal paper work. There will be a slight delay as the league’s international transfer window doesn’t open until Jan. 24th, so everyone will have to be patient.

Michael Burns, the Revolution’s General Manager had this to say about the signings on the team’s official website:

“Both John and Fernando have experience playing in Colombia’s top division, both with and against some of CONCACAF’s top club teams,”

“Lozano is a strong central defender who reads the game well, and Cárdenas is a creative player who we believe has the tools to help us in the attacking half of the field. We expect that both players will have significant roles on our team this season.”

Lozano is 27-years old and began his career with Deportivo Pereira in 2003, joining América de Cali in 2010, making 37 appearances with two goals. Cárdenas is 23 and also began his career with Deportivo Pereira and has bounced around to several clubs on various loan spells.
