Swansea City vs. Wigan Athletic: Final score 2-1, De Guzman sets up both Swans goals

Swansea got back on the right track with a victory, with both goals set up by Jonathan de Guzman.

Swansea City's poor run of form is looking like it was just a blip on the radar after their solid performance against Wigan. While beating Wigan at home is hardly a spectacular accomplishment, it should be encouraging for Michael Laudrup that his side was clearly the better team on the day, and their 2-1 margin of victory does not reflect their superiority.

Wigan defended very well in the first half, but finally broke down in the 65th minute. Pablo Hernandez finished off a beautiful move by the Swans, turning in a pass by Jonathan de Guzman. The Dutch-Canadian set up another goal two minutes later, crossing to Michu who nodded in his sixth Premier League goal of the season.

Emmerson Boyce fired Wigan back into the match with a surprising goal a minute later, but the Latics weren't able to create much more than that. They forced Michel Vorm into a couple of saves, but Swansea looked like the much more dangerous team until the end of the match and did well to hold onto the win.
