Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli start for Manchester City as Roberto Mancini rotates his squad after their midweek game against Borussia Dortmund.

Sergio Agüero and Edin Džeko have been moved to the bench after starting in midweek, with Joleon Lescott also returning to the side. Yaya Toure shakes off injury fears to start, although Javi Garcia is not named in the team or among the subs after picking up an injury against the Bundesliga outfit.

Sunderland, meanwhile, continue with a 4-4-1-1 formation, with Stéphane Sessègnon just behind Steven Fletcher. Carlos Cuellar returns to the side after recovering from injury, but Craig Gardner continues at right-back regardless.
