When Phil Neville was not in the Everton 18 today, there were a lot of questions from Everton fans as to his whereabouts. David Moyes explained his absence after the match, saying the midfielder and team captain will miss six to eight weeks of action after under going a knee operation.

It’s yet another massive blow for a team that had virtually no depth going in to the season and now has three regular starters out with extended injuries. The how and when of Neville’s injury is still not known, but there’s no question Moyes will be forced to look for some kind of reinforcements during the upcoming transfer window. In the interim, the pressure will be on an already thin roster.
With Darron Gibson and Tony Hibbert still out, Thomas Hitzlsperger will be called upon to fill in in the midfield while Seamus Coleman will likely continue to cover at right back. Say what you will about Neville's level of play, he's Everton's captain for a reason and a leader on and off the pitch. It's a big loss for the Toffees and just another issue for Moyes to deal with in the wake of his team's disappointing 2-1 loss to Reading today.
Everton are expected to look in to recalling Ross Barkley who is currently on loan with Sheffield Wednesday.
