Chelsea have announced that Rafael Benitez has been hired as interim manager until the end of the season, replacing the recently fired Roberto Di Matteo.

Clive RoseChelsea issued a statement on Di Matteo’s sacking that was respectful, but strongly worded.
While it seems extremely harsh and reactionary to fire a manager who had just won the Champions League after five games without a victory, there’s not much to disagree with in that statement. Fans have been rightfully annoyed by the Blues’ extremely poor form in the league over the last four matches, and Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to Juventus was simply the cherry on top of an excrement sundae.
