Aston Villa head coach Paul Lambert will be forced to watch his team's match against Arsenal on Saturday from the stands after the FA served him with a one-match touchline ban. Lambert lambasted officials after Villa's 5-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend and as one might expect, the FA didn't appreciate his comments.

Aston Villa will be without their head coach when they host Arsenal this weekend after Paul Lambert was handed a one-match touchline ban by the FA for improper conduct

Lambert was no doubt upset by a penalty awarded against against Andreas Weimann that led to City taking a 2-0 lead. During his post-match interview, Lambert unloaded on the officials saying:
“I haven’t a clue what [assistant referee Adrian Holmes] saw. We were well in the game - we had a foothold in it, and that is a big thing coming here but the penalty was a really shocking decision.”
Lambert also called the decision “ridiculous and woeful” along with offering the opinion that “it was not a penalty in this life,”.
He also accused the officials of “not being strong.”
The official wording of the charge from the FA is “language and/or behaviour amounting to improper conduct”. In addition to the ban, Lambert will have to pay a £8,000 fine.
