Klaas-Jan Huntelaar signs contract extension at Schalke
Schalke have pulled off a major coup by persuading Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to sign a new contract, ending rumours of a move to the Premier League for the striker.

The deal represents a huge boost for Schalke, with Huntelaar's contract previously set to expire in the summer and the club fearing they would lose him on a free transfer. The Netherlands striker had been linked with a number of clubs, among them Liverpool and Arsenal, and the decision to sign a new contract comes as a major surprise, particularly with Schalke's struggles in the league this season.
Huntelaar was quoted as saying: “I have thought long and hard about this decision and I am very grateful to my managers at Schalke 04, who have have given me this time.
“But now I have made the decision, in which I have the best feeling. I’ve always felt comfortable at Schalke, the club and its fans.”
Huntelaar previously played for Real Madrid, Ajax, and AC Milan and has an impressive record of 49 goals in 107 games for Schalke.
