Sunderland vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs able to keep momentum up?

Tottenham will face a difficult away encounter on Saturday at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland.

Tottenham face a tough test on the road as they travel to the Stadium of Light on Saturday as they face a Sunderland side coming off the back of an impressive 1-0 win over champions Manchester City.

The Black Cats have struggled for form this season, but are still a tough outfit at home, as City found the hard way in the last round of fixtures. Tottenham’s task will be made harder by a number of minor injury problems, with doubts over the fitness of several key players.

Tottenham will be looking to secure their position in the Champions League places, and will be watching over their shoulder for the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton. With the return of their first-choice midfielders bringing in some better form for the Lilywhites, Andre Villas-Boas will be hoping to make the most of a key period in the season.

Sunderland injuries and suspensions

Out: Danny Rose (ineligible). In doubt: John O'Shea (illness).

Tottenham injuries and suspensions

Out: Younes Kaboul (knee). In doubt: Clint Dempsey (groin), Tom Huddlestone (knee), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee), Moussa Dembele (hip).

Danny Rose will be ineligible to play for Sunderland due to the terms of his loan deal stipulating he cannot play against his parent club. John O'Shea should return to the side, while David Meyler, recalled from his loan to Hull, could also feature.

Tottenham only have Younes Kaboul out for certain, but there are question marks over the fitness of a number of other players. Benoit Assou-Ekotto is one of them, who could make his return from a long-term knee injury.
