Rafael Marquez isn't closing the door on his international career quite yet and before he thinks about the World Cup, he is thinking about the Olympics. Marquez wants to be on the Mexico Olympic team as an overage player, which makes sense, because when you think of Marquez you think about the ideals professed by the Olympics and competition in the spirit of good cheer toward all.
Rafael Marquez Would Make The Ideal Olympian
“I would love to participate in the Olympic team for Mexico, but it’s hard to get on [the roster] because of all the young players,” Marquez said through an interpreter at a press conference. “I’m happy to go back with any Mexican national team.”
Sounds like a plan, Rafa. After last season, I doubt the New York Red Bulls would stand in the way of you leaving them for a month. Hell, they might even bribe Mexico to take you off their hands. They would do it for the Olympic spirit, though, of course.

Perfect. If that doesn’t scream “We need Rafa Marquez,” then nothing does.
