Anyone who has taken part in a penalty shootout or has had to watch while his favorite team is in one knows how excruciating the whole exercise is. One kick, two kicks, three kicks. How does 50 kicks sound?
Soccer Match Needs Two Days And 50 (50!) Penalty Kicks To Decide Winner
San Diego high schools Bishop’s of La Jolla and San Diego Crawford had to endure an incredible 50 kicks and in a playoff match to boot after the two teams were tied at 3-3 after regulation. The match took so long that they had to play it over two days. The match began on Tuesday, but after 18 makes for each side, three misses for each and 21 rounds, it had to be called off due to darkness. When the match resumed on Wednesday, Bishop’s were finally able to put an end to things when they scored the 49th penalty and Crawford missed on kick number 50.
Subjecting kids to so much stress must be some sort of crime.
