Winning makes money, or at least it does at Borussia Dortmund. The defending Bundesliga champions made a club record $134.7 million in the sixth-month period from July 1, 2011 through the end of the year and their pre-tax profits were up to $22.2 million from $5.7 million. Just in case that trophy wasn’t enough to make those at the Westfalenstadion happy, this should do the trick.
Borussia Dortmund Enjoying The Spoils Of A Title With Record Revenue
To think that the club is making so much money is incredible considering the dire financial straits they were in not too long ago. After winning their last Bundesliga title in 2002, the club was on the verge of bankruptcy. Ever since Jurgen Klopp took over as manager, though, the club has made shrewd signings like Neven Subotic, Lucas Barrios and Kevin Grosskreutz and the wins have followed. As we see now, with those wins comes plent of money too.
So for all of you people hoping to win the lottery, just go win the Bundesliga instead and rake in the cash.
