If you thought house arrest was a punishment for perjury or other, you know, crimes, think again. You can be put on house arrest for being fat, or at least you can if you’re a professional footballer. Former really awesome footballer and current overweight, training-missing Corinthians footballer Adriano has been put on house arrest for packing on the pounds.
Corinthians Sentences Adriano To House Arrest For Being Fat
Adriano will have to stay in a hotel at the team’s training complex where he will only be able to eat what the training staff provides for him. He’ll also train three times per day. The club is hoping that he can get fit enough to actually play, which he hasn’t done much of this year. Crazy concept.
“In the hotel we have more control over him … He knows we’re trying to do the best for him. All of us are dedicated, but it depends on him. Weight loss comes only through diet: you cannot lose weight through physical activity alone.”
Apparently holding a Twinkie on a stick in front of him on a treadmill doesn’t work as well as you’d think.
