Liverpool are currently on the outside of European places looking in, despite all of their spending, and they will be without two of their best players for one of the biggest matches of their season. Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger are both unlikely to be available to face Arsenal on Saturday afternoon at Anfield. Agger is definitely out and should miss a couple of weeks, while Gerrard could potentially recover from his hamstring pull in time to play.
Steven Gerrard, Daniel Agger Likely To Miss Arsenal Match For Liverpool
Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger could miss Liverpool’s crucial match against Arsenal on Saturday after both picked up recent injuries.
Agger picked up his injury -- a fractured rib -- during the Carling Cup final and had to sit out of Denmark duty on Wednesday. Gerrard suffered a hamstring issue 32 minutes into England’s game against the Netherlands, but he should return to action shortly.
Gerrard, England managers and Liverpool managers haven't all been happy with each other at all times regarding England duty in the recent past. He has picked up injuries during international friendlies and has also pulled out of England matches with an injury, only to play the following weekend. Kenny Dalglish commented on his feelings about Stuart Pearce and whether or not England is to blame for Gerrard's injury.
“Until we know exactly what has happened it is difficult for us to presume anything. I have fantastic respect for ‘Pearcey’ - he played for [me]. He is a really straight, honest guy so I don’t think he would do anything harmful to the football club.”
Who knows what kind of absurd question Dalglish was asked that elicited that kind of response.
