Chelsea Vs. Napoli, 2012 UEFA Champions League: Can Di Matteo Mastermind A Comeback?

Chelsea's loss to Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo was the beginning of the end for Andre Villas-Boas. Because of the further poor results that followed that 3-1 Napoli victory, the Blues will finish this tie with a different manager than the one they started it with. Caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo is tasked with engineering a two-goal or better win on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Bosingwa is out and Raul Meireles is suspended, but both were unlikely to feature for Chelsea in this match. This means that Di Matteo has more or less a full team to pick from, and he has plenty of selection dilemmas on his platter. Juan Mata has played on the left for most of this season, Christian Maggio is a terrible match-up for him. Ramires has been brilliant in the center, but has been tried out on the right in recent games. And are there places for John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard?

For Walter Mazzarri, things are a bit more straightforward. He rested Edinson Cavani and Maggio on the weekend, and they will come in for Andrea Dossena and Goran Pandev. Otherwise, his team should be unchanged. They have all of the same weapons as the team that scored three in the first leg, and they will play exactly the same way, save for some minor tweaks to account for the situation. Di Matteo knows exactly what Napoli team will be put in front of him. There's no question about that. The question is whether or not he has an answer for them.
